these days, working remotely isn’t uncommon. it’s still something that has not been adopted by most of the corporate world, but for those of us that can - it’s probably the single most valuable aspect of my job. the hardest question to answer, however, is how much is that flexibility really worth?
i’ve had friends tell me that they’d rather have 5,10, even 20k more to goto an office every day from 8-5, but the option of setting up in a different coffee shop or diner every morning and getting my job done is something i love. i don’t think i could really put a price on that. i’ll have to think about this some more…

on the road again after a few days off for my sister’s wedding. had a fantastic time and an even fantastic-er date! this picture is courtesy of my lovely girlfriend taken in the photo booth at the reception. back to the grind for now, but looking forward to some r&r this weekend in chicago. i didn’t make it home after the wedding, so i’ve been on the road for another two weeks.
i had not heard gavin degraw’s new song “i’m in love with a girl” until today. it’s pretty good, check out the video below.
whelp, i’m on site in cleveland, yet again. today is kind of a nice surprise though. we’re going to the bo-sox/indians game downtown, which should prove to be fun. i’m stoked about that. flying home thursday for more fun in st. louis! i’ve already aquired tickets for the cardinals/giants game on friday night too. six row bleacher seats should be some awesome fun! i’m loving baseball much more this year. more to come later, and possibly some pics from the game.
also, check out eric’s (hitanykey) pictures from last weekend’s cwwt#2. it was a blast.
if you’re looking to organize something in the future with a group of friends, this might be just the place to do it. everyone can freely enter in their free dates, and then you can schedule or pic the date that works best for everyone. i’ve only tinkered with it briefly, but it looks pretty sharp. i’ll have to check it out more in the future and see what i can come up with.
on the other side of the fence, i’m back in cleveland, and working as usual. flying home on thursday pm. i haven’t been to chicago in nearly two weeks, and i am very much looking forward to being home. i think a celebration is in order.
Acid3 Browser Test - The Web Standards Project
i’ve been so busy with work in the last few weeks that i didn’t realize acid3 finally came out! check out the link above. i doubt that anyone will make 100/100 anytime soon, but my initial try on firefox 3 beta 5 was 71 / 100. i’ll have to check out the code behind what’s going on sometime soon and see what it’s testing. pretty cool stuff.
muxtape is pretty spiffy. i’m sitting in my hotel room right now watching the cleveland cavs play the chicago bulls and building a muxtape. build your own at http://muxtape.com. it should be an interesting playoff season as the final four ends this weekend and NBA and NHL seasons close in on the end. still rooting for the pistons for the NBA…. not really sure who i’ll root for in the hockey playoffs since the blues have had yet another depressing seaons.
